We are going to slowly re-opening our school. As of 4th May, all students from grade 6, 9, 10 and 12 are returning. Next week year 5 and year 11 are also going to join in. However, the schedule for school is going to be reduced and only core subjects are taught for 45min each under the restrictions of the BBS corona hygiene plan. At the moment, it is hard to say when and if all other grades will be coming back this school year. This is a difficult moment for all of us - students, parents and staff. We are trying to accomodate each and every one by providing extra support to our families, via just a quick phone call, helping out with a chromebook for our digital schedule as well as more regular parent rep evening. We are certain that after the pandemic is over, our community will be stronger than ever. Please, stay healthy and keep a distance.
More BBS News
On 4th September we had more than 200 prospective parents visit our primary schools. Tours were held every 45min by our parents. It was a great day and we hope our future parents got a glimpse about BBS. The Monday after, our head of Hort (Sarah Vissers) and Andrew Comerford (Head of Primary) gave an insightful presentation on our pedagogy. You missed it? Don't worry, please download the file:
As of August 2021 we have a new catering company - Biologisch Catering.
If you would like to know what is on this week's menu, please see for yourself.
Our Primary School Open House will be held from 10am to 3pm on September 4, 2021. Unfortunately, we need to keep the number of applicant parents as low as possible, so we would like to ask you to sign up for a tour here.
The tour lasts about 45min. You can get first impressions of our school through our BBS parents who will accompany you.
Registrations are possible until September 2, 2 pm. Registrations received later will not be considered.
Our doors are open again! Please, come and join our Hort City. We have fun activities and trips for all our primary school children. We bake, we play outside, we play with water, we have Lego and other great workshops.
Twice a week the children are tested, but at the moment there is no masking requirement inside the school building for staff and children.
BBS received more than 1000 Corona testing kits. Within one week we have had several teachers being trained in how to administer the tests. We are now offering tests for everybody on a Friday and/ or whenever they would like to have one. However, this is done on a voluntary basis and an offer for staff only.
We - the Berlin Bilingual Secondary School - are looking for a teacher in German and a further subject in social sciences!
Dear BBS Community,
Since today is the last school day of particularly challenging year, we really want to take this opportunity to send a message of sincere gratitude to BBS parents, students and staff.
Without your great support the months between March and June would not have been possible. Your feedback and help in navigating the crisis has been priceless. Thank you!
To our incredible students
