Undefeated Champions

The Alba-Oberschulliga Basketball tournaments are back underway for school year 2019/20 and once again BBS will be represented by 3 teams. Our WK III girls who travelled to the Albert Schweizer Gymnasium on Wednesday the 23rd of October to take on the aforementioned school as well as the Alfred Nobel Schule in first round action.

The girls first game was against the Alfred Nobel Schule and was an absolute nailbiter with BBS scoring a buzzer beater to win in the the last second, 24-22. The girls grew in confidence in the second game playing some free flowing attacking basketball while also keeping it tight at the back proving too strong defeating Albert Schweitzer Gymnasium, 35-8. This left the girls on top of the standing at the halfway point.

The second half of the tournament saw the girls play both teams again with BBS coming out on top again resulting in BBS finishing first place and going through undefeated. This is a huge achievement by the team as they only have one player currently playing club Basketball. Another amazing statistic was that all students managed to score a basket throughout the tournament. A huge thank you must go to Mr Young and our two grade 11 students for coaching the team on the day and passing on their tactical knowledge.

The WK III girls team will now move up from the rookie to the junior competition for their next tournament in January, a step that they are most definitely ready for. Our two other teams WK III boys and WK II boys will play in late November and we look forward to sharing more success with you.
