Weinstrasse — Talstrasse — Granitzstrasse
One Berlin Bilingual Community. Three Campuses
To accommodate Berlin’s growing English & German bilingual community, BBS is in the process of building a third campus located at Talstr. 21a in Pankow.
Currently, we have 290 students at our primary school and 190 students at secondary. Every year the demand for places increases, and we’ve had to turn away many families. Fortunately, with the development of our new campus, we have the capacity to welcome 250 more students into our community.
Having three campuses and more students starting in Grade 1 means the structure of the school will adapt accordingly. Grades 1 - 4 will remain at Weinstr., while grades 5 - 9 will go to Talstr., and grades 10 - 13 will remain at Granitz Str., so they can better focus on their MSA and Abitur. All three campuses will continue to develop in a way that best facilitates the age groups of the students.
Berlin’s First Green School
The Talstr. location has allowed us to create something truly special.
The design of the building was conceived with an environmentally friendly footprint. Its exterior will be made of wood; solar panels will be on the roof and there will be a garden on its terrace.
The new building will house a science lab, open and free rooms on each floor, and an independent study room with laptops so students can move around freely. The outside area will have a green roof for studying and outdoor quiet time.
Additional playground equipment will be installed in the Weinstr. campus for the grades 1 - 4 students. Added social support specifically for youth will be available to students of both the Granitzstr. & Talstr. campuses. And more students means we will recruit more staff before the new school opens.
Together as a community, we are fine-tuning the plans for the Talstr. campus. Community spirit has been the cornerstone of BBS since its inception in 2007 by a small group of expat parents. The school has thrived and grown because of its foundational belief in community, and this third building is a testament to that strength.
The planned opening for this campus is the school year 2026.
