Every year, 48 new first graders begin their journey through our school. They are welcomed by their second grade buddies at Einschulung, the traditional German ceremony that marks a child’s entry into formal education. From the very start, our students delight in attending a school where everyone is bilingual. The Primary School program is divided equally between English and German with the objective of guiding our students toward a high academic level in both languages.
From grade 1 to grade 6, the Primary program nurtures the continuous progress of each child in a positive learning environment. Learning is active, hands-on and differentiated according to the ability of the student. Our students become increasingly independent as they make choices, whether by selecting a topic for a project, deciding the order in which they complete assignments or choosing from a wide array of workshops. After school, children have the option of structured activity (such as choir, orchestra and karate) or playtime with friends, either on the playground or in one of the after-school rooms. Parents often comment that their children do not want to be picked up!
At Berlin Bilingual School, we offer the best of both worlds: the international orientation of a multicultural, multilingual community and the close-knit feeling of a neighborhood school. BBS is a place where children and families are known well.
We look forward to getting to know you and your child.
